Malay Fried Chicken Wing Recipe

These wings are bursting with the wonderful flavors from the ginger-garlic marinade. The wings are coated with tapioca flour, which gives them the crunchy exterior while sealing in all the juiciness of the wings.

These are one of Hungry Chilipinos’ favorite snack. Pair it with a cold beverage and a dip of Sriracha ~ we couldn’t wish for anything more delicious!

Malay Style Chicken Wings

  • 2 lbs. whole chicken wings
  • 8 cloves of garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons ginger, minced
  • 2 tsp. salt or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger powder
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup tapioca flour
  • Srircha Sauce
  • Step 1 Mix together minced ginger, minced garlic, ground ginger powder, sugar, sesame oil and soy sauce
  • Step 2 Mix well
  • Step 3 Marinate chicken wings in the marinade ingredients and seasonings for several hours or overnight
  • Step 4 Dredge the marinated chicken into the tapioca flour
  • Step 5 Deep fry till golden brown @ 350 degree oil temperature for approximately 15-20 minutes
  • Step 6 Serve hot with a side of Sriracha
